And so it goes ... from dumb luck and sheer panic to SherryandMargarita.com to'Gowing Roses with Sherry 'n Margarita'...The Book!!

How did we get there?..well it kinda went like this....

Margarita and I had no option, we had to learn how to grow roses...and FAST!!

Our exceptionally proud but bad tempered friend Joyce, a prize rose grower with a prize rose garden had us take care of her prize winning garden and roses when she went off on an overseas jaunt for 12 months. Needless to say we just jumped at the chance.

First though it is necessary for you to understand that Margarita and I have lived almost our entire lives on the 19th floor of a lovely highrise building. We had walked through and past gardens....that's it!!

Margarita and I figured, how hard could it be to take care of a garden, water it, weed it, feed it, yeah?

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!!! Inside of 5 or so months, we had somehow managed to literally kill every rose and most of the plants in Joyce's garden.

We blamed each, the weather, our parents, our upbringing....you probably got blamed if you were around then too, yep we blamed just about everything and everyone we could think of. However, the problem did not go away, we needed to learn everything we could about roses, gardens and gardening, oh and all the while staying out of jail!

We did it, we restored the garden, and bless our most recent bottle of fine sherry, Joyce did not lay charges. Wow..a few nicely chilled cocktails and vodka's and orange to celebrate were needed too mind you.

Yes people, we were desperate and dumb. We needed simple, fast and everything given to us in layman's terms, and we got it.

Now our mission is to try and help every new rose gardener or run of the mill gardener, desperate or not, that we can..and we do it in simple to understand no BS language and style.

So there you have it - that is us, now having written our first book "Growing Roses with Sherry 'n Margarita'....perhaps another couple of well chilled cocktails and vodka's......oh ok!! let's move on then...

These days we are assisted (mind you, Margarita would absolutely disagree with the word 'assisted') at Rose Cottage by our Gardener (Margarita and he really do not get along), our Handyman (now he is an odd one, sweet but hmmmm! odd) and Rose our cottage secretary (enough said here for now).

Oh my, I almost forgot Doogle (the resident border collie) and Piggy (our resident and very pink pig) also help out at Rose Cottage.

All in all, the enitre cottage team are just plum crazy about roses....some would leave it at just 'plum crazy', but we love what we do and have loads of chaotic times doing it - a touch of perhaps!!
